Cracked Pecans

There’s an old joke that if you shake the family tree hard enough, you’re bound to find a couple of nuts. In the South, those nuts will surely be pecans (or perhaps your great-uncle Thaddeus).

Pecan trees are found throughout most of the South, where growers and homeowners alike collect their autumn bounty. In October and November when then nuts fall (or are shaken) from the trees, pecan lovers get busy. They squirrel away pecan-filled containers in closets, freezers and pantries until the nuts can be transformed into delectable dishes. Family members of all ages are pressed into nut-cracking service.

Bake pecans for snacking, toss them into creamy pasta or simply eat them out of hand and you’ll know without a doubt why the pecan is the South’s family tree.

Grown from cross created here in Brownwood, Texas, the Pawnee is the first pecan variety we harvest each season. Your first taste will tell you that Pawnee is unlike any pecan you’ve ever tasted. Plump and delicious—in a word extraordinary. They have a rich taste that makes them ideal for baking.

Our Cracked Pecans are from the same specially selected decade-old pecan trees which produce our Hand-Shelled Pecan Halves, Fancy Pecan Halves and Whole “In-Shell” Pecans. They’ll please everyone… from the novice baker to the cook who really knows pecans.
